Hunting hounds have long been prized for their skill and beauty, and as such have regularly been depicted in paintings for hundreds of years. The Borzoi is a Russian hunting dog with elegant lines and silky fur. It was bred in the 16th century in Russia by crossing European sighthounds and Saluki dogs with thicker coated Russian breeds. Borzoi means ‘fast’.
