Aphrodite's Song

£950.00

Original oil painting on canvas covered board

Painted area 30.6 x 40.6cm
Framed 39 x 49cm

Framed in a distressed dark traditional frame with 23ct gold leaf detail.

Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love & procreation.

I've long been fascinated by myth, and the escapades of the Greek Goddesses provide rich fodder for the imagination. Here Aphrodite sits in a rare moment of peaceful non-meddling, with her magical girdle around her hand (infused with the irresistible powers of desire and love), accompanied by her playful hare (one of her sacred animals) who wears a pearl earring (Aphrodite's stone, symbolic of love).
